What one specific nudge can I take today to move my spiritual life closer to the life I actually want?
I have sat still long enough to know when I am stalling and calling it prayer. I have opened the Bible before, not to obey, but to feel better about not obeying. That kind of religion looks respectable. It just doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t change me or my life. Heck, my life verse is James 1:22 – “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says” And then, I remember…
Jesus did not say, “Admire Me.”
He did not say, “Study Me until you feel safe.”
He did not say, “Build a spiritual identity around Me while continuing to serve yourself.”
He said, “Follow Me.”
That is not inspiring language. That is invasive language. That is a call to do something.
And maybe that is why so many people keep their spiritual life vague. Vague feels holy. Vague lets you nod your head in church, post a verse, talk about growth, and never actually move. Even people who say they’re “Spiritual” don’t always act upon that “Sprituality.”
Specific obedience ruins that game. Do it requires effort.
What if the one nudge you need today is not more information? What if you already know enough? What if the distance between the life you say you want and the life you are actually living is not mystery, but disobedience?
That lands hard because it is hard.
Most people say they want God, until God starts touching their habits, their ego, their money, their lust, their schedule, their pride, their need to be right, their need to stay comfortable. Then suddenly they need “more time to process.” No. Usually they need less talking and more surrender.
So here is the one nudge.
Answer Jesus.
Not in theory. Not emotionally. Not someday when life settles down and you become the version of yourself you keep promising to become.
Today.
Get alone for ten minutes. No music. No scrolling. No performance. Ask, “Jesus, where am I refusing to follow You right now?”
Then stop defending yourself long enough to hear the answer. Write down the first honest thing that comes. Make the call. End the compromise. Confess the sin. Forgive the person. Open the Scripture. Apologize. Give. Go.
Small thing? Maybe.
But a life is changed that way. One surrendered yes at a time.
Follow.

The shift is to stop treating spirituality like reflection and start treating it like response. The one nudge with the greatest spiritual impact is to answer Jesus’ invitation, “Follow Me,” with a real yes today.
