LifeNudge

A faithful nudge toward the life you want.

The Overton Window

I just discovered the Overton Window!

And I couldn’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t just about politics or culture out there. It was about the quiet borders inside me!

The Overton Window, as I understand it, is the range of what people consider acceptable. What feels normal. What can be said without getting laughed at, rejected, or punished. And maybe that’s the problem.

Most people do not live from conviction. They live from permission.

We say we want change, but usually we only want the kind of change our current circle or mindset won’t question. We want truth, but only if truth stays inside the window we’ve already approved.

What if your life has an Overton Window?

What if there are things God has been nudging you toward that feel “too much” only because your inner world has been trained by fear, habit, family, culture, or ego? What if the real prison is not sin, but what you consider “normal?” Your quiet, acceptable, normal. That’s the kind that rarely gets noticed.

I keep thinking about how easily a life gets built around what feels reasonable instead of what is real.

Reasonable bitterness. Reasonable numbness. Reasonable compromise. Reasonable delay. Protection from conflict.

Maybe the work of a better life is not merely adding a few better habits. Maybe it is letting God widen the window.

Letting Him challenge what you have called acceptable. Letting Him expose the operating system running underneath your days. Because once something new becomes thinkable, speakable, livable, a life can begin to move.

Quietly.

Intentionally.

One nudge at a time.

Shift/Insight

The shift is to start asking, “Who taught me what feels possible, acceptable, and normal?”

The insight is that many lives are not stuck because of inability, but because the internal window has been kept too small.

Today’s Nudge

Write down one thing you have called “just the way I am.” Then ponder – is that truth, or is that merely what has become acceptable to me?

Faith Connection

Romans 12:2 comes to mind, be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Sometimes renewal feels disruptive before it feels peaceful.
