I sat still the other morning and realized something was off.
My schedule was full, my mind was loud, and my soul felt like the one room in the house I kept walking past with the light off.
I like to break life into parts because it helps me to feel in control, in all areas: physical, mental, family, social, financial, career, and spiritual. I like to frame life in those seven areas and yet I forget to remind myself they are interconnected, not isolated compartments.
But most of us cheat. We give our best attention to whatever can be measured. Weight. Income. Output. Titles. Applause. We obsess over what can be counted and quietly ignore what can only be discerned. I love ‘putting out fires.’
That is why the spiritual area matters so much.
Not because it is vague. Because it is revealing.
For me, the spiritual area as the most personal part of life, the place where the real me lives. Not my body. Not my thoughts. Not my past. Not my family role. Not my career. And, not the number in my bank account. This is the deeper place underneath all the noise, where my loves, fears, loyalties, and obedience get exposed.
I struggle with the tension between priorities and maintaining balance. I question if my real problem is stress? Maybe the real issue is worship. I honestly ask: Who is my god? Where do I spend my money? Where do I invest my time? Where do I use my talents? That is not religious fluff. That is diagnosis.
And here is the tension: the spiritual area does not stay in its lane. It bleeds into every other area. It shapes how you treat your body, how you think, how you love, how you work, and what you chase. Ignore it, and you can still look successful while quietly becoming hollow.

The shift is to stop treating spirituality like one category on the list. It is the lens affecting every category.
