Eleven Ways into The Conversation

The areas tell us where to look. The categories give ordinary experiences a name. People rarely wake up saying they need to improve their Social area. They wake up lonely, frustrated with a friend, or wondering why they never call their brother. A category is a doorway into one or more areas.

Between the Ears [Primary area: Mental] – Identity, perception, self-talk, assumptions, and the stories we tell ourselves. Which old conclusion is still directing a current life?

Small Shifts [Primary area: All seven] – Habits, routines, and the small choices that accumulate. What tiny adjustment could change what happens next?

Now What? [Primary area: Mental and Spiritual] – Decisions, transitions, uncertainty, and discernment. When the old answer no longer fits, what is the next wise or faithful step?

Not Someday [Primary area: All seven] – Time, priorities, delay, unfinished business, and presence. What matters enough to begin while it is still called today?

Not Getting Younger [Primary area: Physical] – Health, energy, aging, limits, and care for the body we have. Some conversations are serious; some involve reading glasses and a knee that has developed opinions.

Life Together [Primary area: Family and Social] – Marriage, friendship, belonging, conflict, forgiveness, and showing up. How do we love actual people, including the complicated ones and ourselves?

Money Talks [Primary area: Financial] – Spending, retirement, generosity, security, and enough. A bank statement can say quite a lot about what we value and what we fear.

Making a Living? [Primary area: Career] – Work, purpose, ambition, retirement, mentoring, and useful contribution. Making money and making a life overlap, but the questions are not identical.

Follow Me [Primary area: Spiritual] – Following Jesus through prayer, Scripture, discernment, surrender, service, and obedience. What happens when belief reaches a decision we would rather make alone?

Stuff Happens [Primary area: Mental and Spiritual] – Loss, failure, mistakes, grief, disappointment, and beginning again. What needs repair, what needs grieving, and what can we do next without pretending it did not hurt?

Just Because [Primary area: Social, Physical, and Mental] – Curiosity, play, laughter, beauty, food, music, adventure, and wonder. Joy does not always need a productivity metric.
