I was talking to someone the other day who said they were moving fast enough to look important and yet slow enough to still be lost.
That was an interesting way to put their way too busy life. Their calendar was full, their mind was 100% engaged, and somehow that was supposed to count as a good life.
It doesn’t.
Busyness is one of the easiest lies to believe because it lets you feel productive without requiring you to be honest. Are you building a life you actually want, or are you just staying occupied enough to avoid hearing yourself think?
A lot of people are not successful. They are merely scheduled.
And busy.
We confuse motion with meaning. We confuse pressure with purpose. We confuse anxiety with significance, as if a nervous system running hot is proof that we matter.
Maybe the real issue is that being busy can keep you from noticing you are headed in the wrong direction.
You can answer emails, attend meetings, run errands, solve problems, juggle obligations, and still be drifting farther from peace, farther from your family, farther from your calling, farther from who you were meant to become.
Full speed. Wrong way.
And, exactly where are you going?
If your pace is producing constant anxiety, shallow breathing, short patience, spiritual numbness, and a home that only gets the leftovers of you, that is not success. That is wear and tear on your soul.
Some of us stay busy because slowing down might force a reckoning. We might have to admit that the life we built is impressive on paper and hollow in the soul. We might have to ask whether all this effort is producing profit in the places that actually matter.
Jesus never seemed frantic. Urgent at times, yes. Clear, yes.
But not frantic.
That should make us question our lives.
Shift/Insight
Success is not measured by how much you carry. It is measured by whether your daily life is moving you toward peace, purpose, obedience, and…
The kind of person you actually want to be.
Today’s Nudge
Cancel, delay, or say no to one thing today that keeps you busy but does not move you closer to the life you know you need.
Faith Connection
Ask God a dangerous question…
“What am I calling responsibility that is really just distraction?”
