LifeNudge

A nudge toward the life you want.

You Don’t Need More Hours

I caught myself saying, “I just need to make time!”

All the while scrolling through things I claimed I was too busy to ignore. That sentence sounded responsible, but it wasn’t honest. I didn’t have a time problem. I had a priority problem dressed up in better language.

We love the phrase make time because it sounds disciplined without demanding surrender. Here is the ‘breaking news flash’ – time is not something you make. Time keeps moving whether you’re awake to your life or not. What you actually make are excuses, patterns, habits, and little private agreements with comfort.

That’s the tension.

Most people say they do not have enough time when what they really mean is they have given their best attention to things that do not deserve it. That’s hard to admit because it confronts more than scheduling. It confronts worship. Whatever gets my first energy, my clearest mind, and my emotional loyalty has already been named important by my life, even if my mouth keeps naming something else.

Are you sure you’re overwhelmed? Or are you fragmented?

Because those are not the same thing.

A full life is not always a misaligned life. Some seasons are genuinely heavy. Real responsibilities exist. Children need care. Work has demands. Bodies get tired. But even in full seasons, priorities reveal themselves. We somehow find time for what soothes us, feeds our ego, numbs our anxiety, or keeps us from facing what matters most.

Maybe the real issue is not that your calendar is too crowded. Maybe it’s that your heart is too divided.

God does not usually lead me by handing me more hours. He leads me by confronting what I keep protecting. Convenience. Image. Noise. False urgency. And when those start losing their authority, something surprising happens. I still have twenty-four hours. But now I have enough time for what is actually mine to do.

Shift/Insight

You do not need to “make time” for what matters most. You need the courage to stop treating lesser things like they matter more.

Today’s Nudge

Take 10 minutes and write down the three things you say matter most right now. Then look at yesterday. Did your time agree?

“Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.” — Psalm 90:12

Today, cut one thing that keeps stealing your attention and give that space back to what God has already shown you matters.
